On my way back from a VSO meeting in Senga Bay. I think we should consider it for our locality meetings. No pool but a 365 mile long lake to have a swim in before and after the meeting as well as at lunch time. Beautiful sandy beaches, complete with waves and not a crocodile in sight. It had the added bonus of being warm and quiet. Too bad about the balharzia!
It was good to meet all the other nurses and find out how they were managing in their placements. The issues seem to be the same everywhere so there is lots of peer support and understanding. Back to the real world tomorrow and the continuation of my orientation.
If anyone wants to write, letters should get to me at:
St Luke's Hospital
Box 21
Chilema
Zomba
Malawi
Mail takes about a month but it should get here. Sorry I'm not managing to get into my email. I hope everyone is well and enjoying the Scottish summer

Hi Carol,
Fascinating reading - pretty hairy and scarey but so admire what you are doing and putting up with. Will pass on to Angela/Katie etc., and I'm sure they'll be in touch. So busy here - just finished Highland Show and Andrew keeps disappearing on holiday, but maybe try to write to you. Anything useful we can send out to you? No point in sending anything pointless -so do let me know. Thanks for Birthday wishes. Take care - we have 5 chicks but maybe too far to send. Could deliver them!!! Lots of love Jeanxxxx
Hi Shorty, AFrican tummy sounds nasty but at least you didn't give us all too much detail! The Uk has been a bit tropical this week with floods down south and guess what...just where we're supposed to be going on our hols!!! Callum reckons we should just pop a canoe on the roof just in case. I was thinking about you today while I was out checking my veg and wondering how you were getting on with your one pot cooking. Don't let that priest bother you too much, show him the ST Christopher and tell him you've got it covered! TAke care, Lesley O'D & Co
You're going to swim 365 miles? Impressive, most impressive, especially befoe a meeting! btw Yorkshire is now approaching a 365 mile lake too atm and still growing given the forecast for this week.
Sorry to hear about the Malawi tummy hope it didn't last too long and you're back to your usual self. Good to read your posts, they're appreciated at this end.
Take care and look out for the crocs. John.
Hi Carol, reading every story you and friends post. I'm sure if you have this blog put into print it will be a best seller. It has all the topics to beat a Bill Bryson book. I hope you soon have the chance to effect change to help the wee kiddies. Some times you take your comforts for granted until you hear what you put in writing. Keep the blogs coming Carol and take care. Ps watch the crocs, they're just staying out the road while you have African tummy.
Hi Carol,
Just finished another hard week! Tess is now is dunfermline and I met with her yesterday and gave her the guide to working in the locality with all the coffee shops etc. I hope your guts are better, trust you took plenty baby wipes! The lake sounds lovely good place for the Bored meeting, could chuck people in if they were misbehaving. Cardiac Anne is off to T in the Park for more trench foot, as usual the weather if awful. Went to the Scottish Game fair last week and put Nevis in the terrier racing event, he was useless and frightened of all the border terriers ganging up on him. Jessie! Anyway I hope your house is looking good and look forward to your next blog. Hope you are ok and coping with all the changes you are dealing with. Take care. Love Rhona
