Made It

Arrived with all Luggage in tact. Staying in Lilongwe for a week to try to get the basics of the language and do some registration for working and living here. We were brought into town to an internet and telephone cafe. The internet is slower than I ever remember it and they have run out of phone cards. We are all a bit tired after the journey. We are quite a large group of volunteers from Canada, Usa, Holland, Spain, Nigeria and the UK. I don't know if I will manage back again or have to wait for internet access at my placement. I got a photo of the sunrise from the plane it was quite spectacular. Its has been a really pleasant day with a temperature of 22C and a gentle breeze. the locals think its cold!

We were thinking about you yesterday pleased to see you have arrived safely. You had better stock up on goodies in case it is a while before you get back to TESCO. Enjoy language school. Hope to hear from you soon. You will be excited about seeing your new home and getting settled in to your new job. Take care. love Rhona x

Great to hear & see that you've arrived safely, is it what you expected?
You do realise that you'll be in big demand when you return to UK with your video diaries? WRI & Probus are always on the look out for interesting speakers!
Love, Alli

Delighted to hear of your safe arrival complete with luggage! Played 18 holes on Sunday and your name kept cropping up as to which part of the world you would now be in and whether we could improve our golf suffiently for you to be impressed when you return! We know we won't, but will enjoy trying! We did not have to use the Carol Carson golf swear word once! Hope you settle in to your new job and home very soon. Love Susane

Glad you arrived safely , must be such a culture shock going from scotland to malawi- 22degrees sounds amazing given the cold weather we've had recently.

Carol, you didn't have to go all that way to avoid another Big Brother!

22 degrees sounds perfect - cooler than Garvock House Hotel at 9am I bet.

I'm looking forward to reading about your new home. Let me know when you need a new supply of Earl Grey teabags (perhaps you could try using them more than once?). Love, Ange

Hi, just played an awful round of golf I was forced to pick up at one point as I was so bad. Betty won the competition tonight. Hope you can now say some useful things in Mallawian so you can hit the ground running when you start work. Cath was asking for you tonight the macaroni was dire, worse than my golf. Going to have some grape juise now, red grape juice. Take care love Rhona

Hi Carol it,s good to hear you are well and have arrived safely. Rhona says your at language school. You will have to learn some of the good words and teach us how to speak Mallawian. That'll confuse the firewall.
Take care Carol. Speak to you soon, when you get your turn at the computer.

Heya Carol

Congratulations on getting there and slap wrist for not having a mobile solar powered laptop with a satelite card so you can dial in from absolutely anywhere - guess there was no room after you packed all the shoes!! *sigh* guess we'll all have to hope you find a local reliable internet service.

btw couldn't help noticing you've spelt Apocalypse incorrectly - see just because you're 24,000 billion miles away doesn't mean to say that bad spelling is acceptable :) oh and is that the redux version of the film?

Hope things are going well for you, talk to you soon.

John & Helen xx
